tiny truths

I’m constantly inspired by women and what they achieve for others through sheer passion, warmth and persistence. They deserve to be celebrated for the divine people they are.

Even as I swoon over Colin Firth’s special brand of English, chivalrous humility, I wonder about his words. Are we women more “passionate, warm and persistent,” on the whole, than men? Am I jaded if these descriptors read as cute euphemisms for “emotional”? Doesn’t our divinity, which I do recognize and respect, show itself as a strength and penetrating intelligence that is not only emotional but uniquely aware, intuitive and relational?

Don’t get me wrong, his message is received. And I apologize to an extent for generalizing here.

But I just want to say that, as a woman, I may not always come off as warm or persistent, but I will do what is needed to make this life work, for myself and others, and I will never stand for bullshit.
